ge~}1 ~}1 ~}1 Unknown~}1 ~}1 Not Tested~}1 Unknown~}1 ~}1 ~}1 ~}0Unknown. Since no acoustic tr
acking device was available, positioning of the c~}1amera sled was assumed to be
the position~}0of the DGPS antenna on the vessel. The towpoint was was offset 6
.7m aft of the~}1antennae. The camera was deployed from an~}0A-frame off the ste
rn of the vessel with an attempt to drop directly below the~}1tow point and drif
t with the current to~}0minimize positional errors. In some cases strong curren
ts created increased ca~}1ble layback, and thus increased positional~}0error. T
he exact degree of this error is unknown and variable. Positional err~}1or woul
d be minimized in more shallow water.~}1~}1 ~}1 ~}1 ~}1 ~}1 ~}0 Navigat
ion information (along with time stamp) was extracted from~}1 digital overlay of
video tapes recorded~}0on Mini-DV media. A point file was created in ArcInfo ~
"| depicting the assume~}1d position of the camera sled. Video tapes~}0were revi
ewed making note of primary and secondary substrate types, along with~}1certain
biological notations when deemed~}0appropriate. Time stamp was noted on the vi
deo tapes at each substrate transit~}1ion and assumed to remain constant until~}
0the next transistion in sediment type was encountered. Substrate type was ente
~}1red into an Excel spreadsheet format where~}0timestamp was used to correlate
sediment transitions with positional informatio~}1n from the DGPS. Selected sti
ll~}0frames were then extracted from video to jpeg format using Finalcut Pro.
