OCEAN CHANGE TEACHER WORKSHOP
Tentative dates: August 1-4, 2012
This summer Seattle Aquarium and NOAA Olympic Coast Marine Sanctuary are offering a workshop for
Washington's outer coast 4th and 5th grade teachers.
Bring the excitement of marine ecology and ocean science to your students through this hands-on

This workshop is designed to better prepare teachers to use inquiry-based marine science as a
context for learning. Ocean literacy and climate literacy principles will be integrated into our
activities in the classroom and at the beach.
Here are some highlights of the workshop:
- Meet and work with local marine science experts
- Learn the essential principles of ocean and climate science
- Understand how to use the marine environment as an integrating context for teaching and learning
- Go out to local beaches to experience and identify marine life on the coast
Workshops are available to 4th and 5th grade teachers in Crescent, Cape Flattery, Quillayute Valley, Lake Quinault, Queets-Clearwater, Taholah, North Beach, and Ocosta School Districts.
